If this is the case then be prepared to struggle to even make the playoffs in the next 5-10 years because you'll spend all your time trying to find a QB. At least with Dak he can put you in position to win it all. Without him, and searching for a QB every year, the seasons will be over before they start. You have to extend so you can be put in the position to win it all - maybe you get lucky somehow.

Jerky has turned the team into a zoo with tours of people going through the facilities when players are trying to focus on football getting distracted because it's asshole owner wants a few extra bucks by putting his toy on public display. Dak isn't going to win shit here unless it's an incredibly lucky season that would be one and done .I'd rather undergo a few losing seasons to rebuild than keep doing what you know has never worked and never will work . It's not like 20 years ago today with the crop of college QBs coming out being vastly superior to the old days . It's not fucking rocket science either you got the balls to hire the right people to run the show and let them execute their vision or you stay mired in mediocrity because you have a feeble old scared owner whose delusion of being a couple of players away has you going on 30 years of futility . I don't know about anyone else , but I'm fucking tired of watching a few flashy players on an overrated team that beats up on losing teams in the regular season then folds up like a cheap lawn chair against the better teams . Each year I have less hope for this team and have been too ashamed to wear any Cowboy gear and I don't see that changing . Time to fucking change it up or root for another team that doesn't keep doing the same things over and over expecting a different result . www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/dalton-schultz-in-houston-were-focused-on-football-in-dallas-it-was-a-zoo

Trey Lance may be the guy for us. Some Qb’s take a little longer to develope.

Sources: Cowboys rework Dak Prescott's contract to reduce cap hit
The big paragraphs from the article are...
"The Cowboys are continuing attempts to sign Prescott to a contract extension, a source told ESPN's Ed Werder.
While Jerry Jones has said the club plans to keep Prescott, the team owner/general manager hasn't struck the same definitive tone he did in 2021 before signing his franchise QB to a club-record $160 million, four-year contract.
The reworking of the contract included adding two more voidable years in 2027 and 2028, which pushed Prescott's salary cap number in 2025 up slightly to $40 million.
The Cowboys have been quiet in free agency in part because of looming paydays for All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb and star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Committing to Prescott beyond the coming season would make it easier to get deals done with Lamb and Parsons.
The only addition for Dallas from another team so far has been linebacker Eric Kendricks on a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million. The Cowboys added Kendricks while releasing linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, their 2018 first-round pick, on a failed physical designation after he suffered another neck injury last season."

Nothing to this story besides an opinion from some sports writer. "Florio theorized that the Cowboys might want Prescott to learn what market exists for his services next March after Kirk Cousins inked a contract worth "$10M per year less than the current high-end average" to leave the Minnesota Vikings for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency."
"We've had great discussions about his contract," Jones added. "He's all in on working with us."

Okay, perhaps. Time will tell.

What exactly is the option if not letting Dak play out the last year of his contract ? Extend him with a big raise then try to trade him if he gets hurt and Lance excels ? Pay him 55-60 million a year to collapse in the playoffs again ? It actually seems like letting Dak play out his contract with the pressure on to win is the best move here . Even for a fucking dumbass like Jerry !

Ian Rappaport is reporting no deal is to be done and both sides know it. The way it should be. Maybe Lance can be that guy.

Like I said before, I'm no where near as invested in this team as I have been before. You can thank the idiot GM for that, and also the other 3 teams in Dallas that have real front offices (at least competent) and not top tier idiots like the 2 clowns at The Star. Mavs and Stars are very capable of playing for a championship this year and in the near future. On top of that I have the defending MLB champions doing it right. Good times without caring what goes on out the the circus tent in Frisco.
